Pep pilots new switching solution.
After a eleven month development project Pep have implemented a new switching solution utilising S1's Postilion esocket.pos and CSC's Verifone VX810 pinpad. The system has been successfully piloted in five stores during which time the Active Active Postilion and dual Acquirer functionality provided by eCentric Switch has been refined.
Assuming a smooth operation through the Christmas period, it is Pep's intention to rollout the system to all 1400 stores during the first half of 2010. Back office transaction management and GL update is provided by eCentric Switch's ReconAssist.
As a prerequisite to the switching project, Pep first completed the rollout of a GPRS WAN network from Metacom. The response times are sub five seconds and the store staff have been very complimentary regarding the speed and accuracy that it brings to customer service.
