Money Transfers go live at Shoprite Checkers

Today, the Shoprite Group in association with Capitec Bank, launched the national Money Transfer service at all Shoprite and Checkers stores.

eCentric Switch are the technology supplier and service provider, responsible for the development of the system, as well as the ongoing management and operation of the service from our data center in Cape Town.

The Money Transfer service is approved by the South African Reserve Bank and complies with the requirements of the South African Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) for Money Transfers. It enables both banked and un-banked customers to send cash at one Shoprite Checkers store, which is to be received at any other Shoprite Checkers store, by any person providing the unique Money Transfer number and its associated PIN.

This service is marketed as being “EASY. SAFE, INSTANT” and provides a secure and convenient service to a wide range of customers.

The launch of this service, represents a major milestone for eCentric Switch as a secure payments solution provider and is regarded as a key component in the eCentric product suite.
