Woolworths goes live with bill payments

A Cape Town Municipality rates account was successfully paid at the Steenberg store in Cape Town today.

Customers will be able to pay the rates and taxes, electricity and water bills of most municipalities country wide as well as Telkom, Eskom, SABC and a number of other non-utility type accounts.

The bill is captured on the Matra point of sale system and forwarded online to the eCentric Switch where it is authorized as an accepted account. The account information will be forwarded to the biller within 24 hours of being accepted at the store.

This valuable customer service has been offered by other major retailers for some time and Woolworths are excited about offering their customers another valuable service.

The system will be bedded down over the next 4 weeks and then rolled out to all stores countrywide.
